Modding Nintendo Wii

without comments

You can use this article to detail some of the typical types of modifications that you can perform on your Nintendo Wii console. You see, this might be the most common console being heavily used right now that sees modifications. Mod Wii is the shortened term used for Wiis that have been worked on and “improved.”

Do not take this article as a statement that all Wii owners should mod out their consoles. In fact, I believe that you have to be pretty dedicated to the cause to attempt it. There are a lot of risks involved in the process. The first being the destruction of your console by adding malicious content without knowing and secondly, should you send it to Nintendo, they will likely learn of your modification and void your warranty.

However, if you know what you are doing, then you could benefit from such a mod on your console. The best thing to do is to really read into the details of the modification step by step and take your time, otherwise you can refer to the dangers up above.

If you look into them, there are two main modifications being done to Wiis. Granted, there are likely more than this, but these are the two most common. The emulator is the top mod. This program allows you to burn Wii games, Wii channels, Wii Ware, or other Nintendo/Sega console titles onto a DVD+R and play them in your console.

The second common modification is a player that allows you to watch burned and regular DVDs (not blu ray) on your Wii. This is handy for people that have to run a DVD player and a Wii into the same television. This will cut down on the wire tangle behind your set up, and allow you to use your console with full functionality like the other two competitive consoles on the market right now.

Those are the two most popular Wii console modifications, but by no means the only ones. If nothing else, remember this: if you do not know exactly what you are doing in terms of a modification, don’t do it. You risk ruining your system for nothing.

Using the new softmod wii is easy! You can get all of the pieces you need for your mod wii whenever you need them.
